What is a Doula?
"A Doula is an experienced woman who offers emotional and practical support to a woman (or couple) before, during and after childbirth"
Birth Doula
As a Birth Doula I am there for you to help you make an informed decision on the many choices you have throughout Pregnancy and Birth.
Information is impartial and my own views do not change the information I give. I am their to enable you to decide what is best for you and support your decisions so that you achieve the right birth for you.
As a Doula I do not replace medical advice I am their as emotional support to mother and partners.
Birth Package - £150 (Trainee Rate)
Includes:
- 2 Antenatal visits – explain birth and different types of care/treatment available and the pros and cons for each. Help you to write your own birth plan. It is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for me to understand how I can meet your needs during birth.
- On call 24 hours a day - for 4 weeks from 38 - 42 weeks. During this time you can call or email me anytime to ask questions so that you feel confident and informed.
- The Birth – I will be there for you for the whole birth as long as it takes this is I feel the most important commitment that I make to you.
- 1 Post-Natal visit – Talk through your feelings and thoughts about the birth and answer any questions you may have.
Post Natal Doula
Empowering you to care for your baby with confidence and enjoyment. I recognise that all women and their families are different and I do my best to meet your needs.
Below is a list of general tasks I do as a Doula but I can discuss your own needs at our first meeting.
- Care for baby whilst you sleep
- Friendly ear/listener
- General Tidying up
- Washing
- Cooking
- Take out toddlers
- Food Shopping
- Information about local services e.g. Breast feeding clinic
